Who’s Really In Control?

Words of Truth from the Proverbs

Proverbs 16

There is no doubt that each one of us have dreams and plans for our lives – plans and schemes of what we would like to see take place, places we would like to be or travel to. It is one of the great blessings of God which allow us to “dream” and plan for the future.

I believe it’s good and healthy for us to have those dreams in life, but at the same time we all need to be wholly surrendered to the leading and direction of the Lord in every area of our life.

The writer of the Proverbs shares this truth with us:

The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.   –   Proverbs 16:1

This proverb speaks of the idea that we can make many plans, but it will be the Lord who works in and through us. Although in his poetic way the writer speaks of our “tongue”, the idea… the concept is the control of the Lord in every area of our life.

As Believers, we need to remember that the Lord is in control of our lives – present and future. We need to see that our “dreams” and plans are only that… dreams and plans!

We can prepare (and we should), but we also need to be fully surrendered to HIS leading… and answers.
