Righteous or Wicked Rulers?

Words of Truth from the Proverbs
Proverbs 29

Proverbs 29
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
This is a power truth at any time, but in a year of political elections it becomes a paramount truth that the Church needs to hear and respond to.

All too often we look for leaders who will take care of this situation or another, rather than looking for men and women of integrity, honor and righteousness. We look for movers and shakers rather than seek out the ones who are moved only by the Holy Spirit of God.

It is true that the Lord is the One who raises up and brings down princes and rulers. But we are also in a situation where the Lord allows us a freewill choice of those we desire to have rule over us.

When we vote for or elect those who have tickled the ear rather than walk in consistent integrity, we will soon find ourselves groaning under the leadership of the wicked.

When we seek the heart of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit in our choices, we will look for those who have Biblical standards and a biblical world view, not simply someone who tells us what we want to hear at one moment and changes course once they are elected or placed in areas of authority.

The righteous will choose to do the right thing, even to their own hurt, not simply to get elected. The wicked will say and do whatever is necessary to get elected.

If we are to live our lives to the fullest, for the glory of God as individuals and see this nation turn around, we need to seek after righteous men and women to place in positions of authority. Don’t settle for less.

2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
