Integrity

Words of Truth from the Proverbs

Proverbs 19:1

We are in a strange time in our culture and country today. It’s an election year and it seems as though the candidates will say anything they think the people want to hear just to gain position and power. One candidate has been caught in lies nearly all of her public life, yet she continues to grow in popularity. Another, although many declare him to be a brilliant mind in a business sense, he seems to show himself a fool every time he opens his mouth.

Proverbs 19:1 declares – “Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.”

Our personal integrity should mean a lot to us. When we struggle too hard to be people pleasers or to find great success in this world, we will often find ourselves losing our integrity, becoming a fool for the sake of the world.

This world and all that is in it is temporary at best. What could this world possibly have to offer that you would be willing to sacrifice your integrity? An individual’s integrity and reputation are built through a lifetime of good and godly choices. Yet through the foolishness of words or bad choices that lifetime of integrity can be lost in a moment of time.

Why chase after the things of this world if you have to lose your integrity to gain it?

Why would you allow your actions and words drag you down to the level of the coarseness of this world, when we are called to live and act like Children of the King of Glory.

Maintain your integrity in both your words and your actions.

Glorify God in all your ways and He will exalt you in due season.
