How To Stop Arguments

Words of Truth from the Proverbs

Proverbs 15

Proverbs 15:1 declares:

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed lately or not, but this world just seems to be an angry place. It seems as though people are growing more and more frustrated and less and less patient.

We have road rage where individuals will shoot at another car simply because they don’t like the way they are driving. Fights and arguments come about in the workplace, sometimes leading to someone bringing in a weapon to take out their frustration on many innocent people.

So many seem to want to have it “Their Way” without consideration of others around them. The “Bad Guy – Hard Guy” mannerism and attitude seems to permeate our society and ANGER seems to rule.

How do you handle situations in life that either already are in conflict or that could escalate into conflict? Is it important to you to always win the argument? To you walk around with the proverbial “Chip on your shoulder” – daring someone to knock it off.

Wisdom tells us that a soft answer turns away wrath. The very Spirit and Word of God calls for us to walk in humility before all men. Are you willing to be wronged and allow the Lord to be your defense or are you so caught up in the world’s way that you are willing and ready to go toe-to-toe with any and every offense that comes your way.

Jesus Christ demonstrated to us how we are to live our lives. The wisdom of this and a multitude of Proverbs and other scriptures make it clear to us:

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
