Words of Truth from the Proverbs
4 Take away the dross from silver, and it will go to the silversmith for jewelry. 5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
When the refiners fire heats up the material that contains silver, the purity of the silver is separated from the impurities of all the other metals that are contained in the ore. The refiner can then easily separate the impurities, or the dross from the purity of the silver, leaving behind the precious metal that is used to make beautiful jewelry. It’s not until the refining process has taken place that the silver is truly ready to be made into something precious and beautiful.
In the same way, every individual – including leaders, (even the best ones) have a certain amount of dross, impurity or wickedness. Those who have allowed themselves to go through the refining fire of the Spirit of God have allowed the dross to come to the surface in order that it might be recognized and removed from their lives.
For those who refuse to allow the cleansing power of God’s Spirit to have His way in their lives, there remains in them impurities and wickedness that will destroy them and very possibly the people they lead.
Yet if they are willing to be purged and cleansed, surrendered to the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ and submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit in their lives, they will leave behind a great legacy.
Truly their throne will be established in righteousness.
